Oppisites Attract

Jake and I had to have a come to Jesus last week.

Topic: It's okay that we don't like the same things. What is different?
  1. Taste in music - HIS: New  HERS: Old
  2. Taste in movies - HIS: Bad  HERS: Good :) (sorry, that was low)
  3. Exercise faves HIS: riding  HERS: Running and Hiking
  4. Books - HIS: Spy's, political  HERS: British, Adventure, Girls rule books!
  5. Communication - HIS: All the time  HERS:  Not too often
  6. Timetable - HIS: Soon  HERS: NOW!
  7. Patience - HIS: Much  HERS: None at all!
  8. Temperament - HIS: Kind  HERS: Goes for the throat.
I could really go on and on, but it was very interesting to see that if we don't love to do the same things, in his world, "WE" are not doing well as a couple.  We have very different views of what a marriage should like, since we are both products of our own families.  I tell him everything and am 100% honest about my feelings to a fault.  I have since learned from you marriage-pros, that sometimes honesty is not the best policy.  But if I hold things back, I feel like I am going to explode.  I have once and yes it was slightly hormone related, which makes me loose a dad of credibility BUT the feelings were honest and just...even if they were delivered through tears and the occasional swear word.

What I am really trying to get to is this...why didn't anyone tell me how hard marriage really is?!?!

  1. Ummmmm...pretty sure I did tell you how freaking hard it is :)

Now, I must disagree with your marriage pros who tell you not to be bluntly honest. Bluntly honest is what we are. BUT you must deliver your honest feelings ALWAYS in kindness and calmness. This is a RULE! If you don't you are just venting and that is often for selfish reasons. You have to make sure you aren't approaching the problem as if it is simply his fault (even if it is!) just present how this or that has made you feel. Chances are he isn't aware of how you are feeling...it is men we are dealing with here :)

    1. I like this! Thanks Miss Dev! I do kind of add a sharp tonge to my honesty :) Which has a high rate of not going over to smooth.

      Loves!
